What are the signs of an abusive person?

You do not have to live with the terror of domestic violence. There is a way out. You have the right to be free. Abuse is never about the victim. The victims does not deserve what their abuser puts them through. Abuse is about power and control. The abuser feels out of control of thier feelings, thier lives etc. They abuse others to attempt to feel in control of themselves. They will never change until they are ready to change. You will not be able to change them or make them better. You are not the cause of thier pain. You do not have to take what they put you through. There are people out there who care and who will help you.

This quote was given to me by a very special woman. I thought that healing should be quick and easy. It wasn't and isn't. The decision to leave an abusive situation is never easy. You fear your life and you fear retaliation. You fear what the next step may bring. You may even feel that you love the person that is abusing you. It's human nature. Nobody goes into a relationship expectig to get abused. You may feel like you don't deserve anything better or that it won't get any better. It isn't true things do get better and you do deserve better. It isn't easy, but it is always the right decision in the end. You will gain yourself back which is the most valuable thing on the Earth.
